Halftime in Death Valley has been extended after a lightning delay in the Clemson area, and both teams are waiting to return to the field. There is still no official word on when play will resume.
Through two quarters, Syracuse holds a 24-14 advantage. Quarterback Steve Angeli has been the difference-maker for the Orange, completing 16 of 24 passes for 180 yards. Syracuse also found success on the ground, rushing for 123 yards to bring their total offense to 303 in the first half. The balance on both sides of their attack kept Clemson’s defense off balance and allowed the Orange to control much of the tempo.
For Clemson, Cade Klubnik provided both of the Tigers’ touchdowns before the break. He connected with freshman Bryant Wesco on a 38-yard strike and later found Adam Randall from six yards out to keep the Tigers within reach. In addition to Klubnik’s efforts, Clemson leaned on the ground game, with one running back picking up 85 yards on just eight carries, averaging more than ten yards per attempt.
