Final injury report before Auburn's SEC opener versus Oklahoma

The Auburn Tigers will have one player out for Saturday’s game at Oklahoma and two players will be a game-time decision.

Auburn will remain to be without the services of running back Durrell Robinson according to the final SEC Student-Athlete Availability Report released Saturday ahead of the game. He did not see any playing time last week in the Tigers 31-15 win over South Alabama. Robinson suffered an injury versus Ball State that was not discovered until after the game. Good news for the Tigers is they should have Damari Alston back in the lineup after missing the two previous games. Running back Jeremiah Cobb has picked up the slack with consecutive games with 100-plus yards.

The two game-time decisions come on the defensive side of the ball. On the defensive front it would be a big blow to the Tigers if defensive end Amaris Williams (shoulder) is not able to play. He was the biggest concern for Hugh Freeze during his Monday press conference. “I think that’s the biggest concern I had today would be Amaris,” said Freeze. He was also asked on Monday what would be the plan if Williams cannot play at Oklahoma.

“We have been rotating guys. Probably Jared Smith would be the first one to pop off my head as a guy. You know we are going to play Chris (Murray) and we are going to play Keyron (Crawford), and we are going to play Keldric (Faulk), and probably Jared would be the next guy. We can move Zykeivous (Walker) out, we need to, but probably Jared Smith,” mentioned Freeze.

In the defensive backfield Champ Anthony is also a game-time decision. Anthony injured his thumb versus Baylor that required surgery. He is a player that the team was very high on coming into the season. He is the type of player that can make an impact on defense. The Tigers will need that facing the Sooners passing attack led by quarterback John Mateer. If he is unable to go, freshman Eric Winters could see plenty of playing time.

Oklahoma will also be missing players on Saturday. Mateer will be playing behind a beat up offensive line and three lineman have been ruled out of the game with Troy Everett, Jacob Sexton, and Jake Taylor. In the defensive backfield the Sooners will be without Jeremiah Newcombe. Oklahoma defensive lineman R Mason Thomas will miss the first half due to a targeting penalty last week in the second half versus Temple.
