Bemidji secures top-5 finish at West Fargo Boarder Battle

Sep. 20—WEST FARGO, N.D. — Out of fifteen teams competing in the West Fargo Border Battle, the Bemidji High School girls swimming and diving team finished in the top five.

The Lumberjacks took fifth in the multi-state meet with 221 points. First place Moorhead scored 368.

Finley Zothman notched the Jacks’ best result Saturday, a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.90.

Zothman came in second in the 100-yard freestyle (54.55), which was 0.72 seconds behind the leader. The team of Zothman, Elle Wille, Kiera Strodtman and Abby Daman also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:42.78). They placed fourth in the first event of the night, the 200-yard medley relay (2:00.61).

Daman scored a top-five finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.80). Wille did the same in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing fifth (5:51.61).

Kiera Strodtman was the highest finishing Lumberjack in the 200-yard IM, coming in sixth (2:26.57).
