It’s been a slow start for the Chicago Bears offense through the first two games of the season, but the Ben Johnson effect is starting to produce results.
Following a three-and-out on their opening series — the first time Chicago hasn’t scored an opening touchdown this season — the Bears offense came alive. Quarterback Caleb Williams connected with wide receiver Rome Odunze for a 35-yard touchdown, and then the real fun began.
The Bears executed a brilliant flea flicker touchdown, which was made even more impressive considering running back D’Andre Swift’s flip was almost disastrous. But Williams was able to save it and still delivered a sensational 65-yard touchdown pass to rookie receiver Luther Burden III.
As you can imagine, there were plenty of reactions to Chicago’s trick play touchdown, which left both Bears fans and NFL fans alike impressed.

Unreal design here. Great acting job by Burden off the ball. Caleb throws this ball almost 65 yards in the air. 👀 #DaBears#Bears#ChicagoBearspic.twitter.com/gieb6ncs3U

I’m so hyped after that play. Not even Swift could mess it up. Caleb absolutely launched that ball. Best deep ball he’s had as a Bear.

This throw is just ridiculous. Great catch by Burden, but that throw… Caleb launched it at his own 22, it lands in Burden’s hands at the Dallas 19 on a DIME. 60ish yards in the air. While under pressure, after catching a terrible flea-flicker pass. Unreal. https://t.co/ck7mzwjCFR
