La Liga champions Barcelona have on Monday announced plans to send a leading member of the clubโs midfield ranks under the knife.
The player in question? Gavi.
Youngster Gavi has for his part of course been sidelined since late last month.
As much comes after the 21-year-old complained of consistent pain in the same knee in which he previously tore the ACL.
The Barcelona medical staff, in turn, had since recommended conservative treatment, in hopes of the issue resolving on its own.
As alluded to above, however, this route has evidently not produced the desired results.
This comes amid confirmation that the call has been made for Gavi to undergo a fresh surgical procedure.
As per a statement across Barcelonaโs website and social media platforms on Monday afternoon:
โFirst-team player Pablo Pรกez Gavira (๐๐๐ฏ๐ข) underwent intensive sports stress tests yesterday after completing conservative treatment for a radial injury to the inner meniscus of his right knee. The conclusions are that, to ensure the best recovery and return to competitive dynamics, Gavi will undergo an arthroscopic review tomorrow under the care of Dr. Joan Carles Monllau, supervised by the Clubโs Medical Services. Once the procedure is completed, a new medical update will be issued.โ
