Ex-Patriots bust claps back at haters with first tweet in three years

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Tyquan Thornton went from a perceived draft bust to being tied with Hollywood Brown as the leading receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs through three games.

And he isn’t afraid to let everyone know it.

Thornton, a former second-round draft pick for the Patriots, never developed into the player the team had hoped in his run in New England. His current success in Kansas City isn’t a good look for the Patriots’ organization and their ability to develop young players in previous years.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes have gotten more out of Thornton in three games than the Patriots did in three full seasons.

“Thank you for all the hate & doubt!” Thornton posted on X.

Thornton has nine receptions for 171 yards and two touchdowns with the Chiefs. He only had 39 catches for 385 yards and two touchdowns in his entire career with the Patriots.

Considering what the Patriots gave up to get him back in 2022, it definitely stings to see a player like Thornton succeed elsewhere. Could the team be in for a similar situation as well with Ja’Lynn Polk, another second-round draft pick receiver shipped to another team before the start of the season?

What a gut punch that would be.
