The Jays haven’t activated Anthony Santander today. That surprises me. The Bisons’ season ended on Sunday. I don’t understand why he wasn’t placed on the roster today. The team says they will make a decision tomorrow.
Apparently the team hasn’t decided if he is ready to join the team:
The #BlueJays still haven’t made a decision on Anthony Santander…
He’s told the team he feels ready to compete. Schneider says they’re trying to make the decision that’s best for everyone.
We should know the next steps by tomorrow, but there aren’t many tomorrows left.

This will be interesting to follow. He is under contract for four more years. It seems strange they haven’t called him up, even just to pinch-hit or something. I don’t understand what’s going on. If they don’t think he’s ready to play and he thinks the opposite, there could be trouble.
And Bo Bichette is still swinging a bat (not with a pitching machine, but still isn’t running the bases, which would be important.

The Toronto Sun tells us that Kevin Gausman likes Kokanee beer. I guess it could be worse, he could like Labatt’s Blue.
The MLB is going to use the ABS Challenge System next season:
With Hawk-Eye technology running in the background and monitoring the exact location of each pitch, relative to the batter’s zone, players can request a challenge of a ball or strike call they feel the umpire got wrong.
When a call is challenged, the Hawk-Eye view is then transmitted over a 5G private network from T-Mobile’s Advanced Network Solutions and nearly instantaneously shown to those in attendance via the videoboard and to home viewers via the broadcast. The ball-strike call is then either confirmed or overturned, and the game goes on having only been briefly interrupted.
I think we are ready for it.
Kevin Gausman is on a great run. I hope it continues tonight.
