Only three months after they won an NBA championship, the Oklahoma City Thunder will get right back to it. The shortest offseason around the league is the price every title winner pays, but it’s a sacrifice the other 29 franchises would gladly take.
If Sam Presti’s preseason press conference is the unofficial first day of school for the new campaign, the second day of classes isn’t too far away. The Thunder will host their 2025-26 Media Day on Monday, Sept. 29. Mark Daigneault and OKC players will conduct interviews starting at 11 a.m. CT.
Outside of celebrating with the Larry O’Brien trophy, the Thunder had a quiet offseason. They quickly did their homework when they signed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren to contract extensions. That should keep their championship window wide open for at least the rest of the decade.
It’ll be interesting to hear from Daigneault and the Thunder players on their championship experience. Especially with three months removed from a 2025 NBA Finals Game 7 win. It’ll be even more interesting to hear how they’ll handle their championship reign as the top team.
This will be a first for most of the Thunder roster. They will sit on the NBA throne, but it comes with the price of being the rest of the league’s most anticipated matchup of the regular season. How they handle that on a game-to-game basis will be one of the ongoing storylines to follow.

The Thunder will then kick off their training camp the following day on Tuesday, Sept. 30. OKC will open its preseason slate when it faces the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, Oct. 5. It will host Opening Night against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
