GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers signed wide receiver Jakobie Keeney-James to the practice squad and released wide receiver Mecole Hardman on Sept. 23.
A rookie out of the University of Massachusetts, Keeney-James went unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft and signed with the Detroit Lions before being released at the end of training camp. In college, he spent five seasons at Eastern Washington (2019-23) and one season at UMass (2024). Keeney-James recorded 111 receptions for 1,664 yards (15.0 avg.) and 10 touchdowns in 49 games played.

Hardman, a Super Bowl-winning veteran with the Kansas City Chiefs, signed a one-year deal with the Packers in March, but never was able to make an impact in the receiver room or special teams. He was released during final roster cuts Aug. 26 and signed to the practice squad.
The Packers needed to add receivers to the team after putting Jayden Reed on injured reserve ahead of the Week 3 game with the Cleveland Browns as he underwent surgery to repair a broken collarbone and a foot injury.
Keeney-James, at 6-foot, 190 pounds, will wear No. 84 for the Packers.
