There was some debate online (shocking, I know) about whether WWE was trolling AEW’s Tony Khan when Stevie Turner, the “Prime Minister” of NXT sub-brand Evolve, posted this yesterday afternoon:
I feel like it’s time to shake it up a bit so I’m gonna make a HISTORY MAKING announcement Tonight on #WWEEvolve!
Don’t miss it 8pm on @Tubi/Youtube!
— STEVIE TURNER (@StevieTurnerWWE) September 24, 2025
Evolve is taped in batches at the WWE Performance Center, and has never aired live. So it seemed likely this was taped well in advance and couldn’t be a response to the latest hyped announcement from AEW’s leader. But Turner’s news wasn’t in front of a live audience, and could have been filmed any time… but she also announced a match on the episode that premiered Sept. 24 that would have to have been taped earlier…
Makes our heads hurt, so we’ll leave that up to wrestling war historians and documentarians. As for the substance of the Prime Minister’s “HISTORY MAKING announcement”? It’s the first Evolve “Tubi Special”, Succession.
It’s gonna be big. See you there 😉#WWEEvolvepic.twitter.com/3yzKkJX9tU

What makes Succession special? So far, just its card. It will air Weds., Oct. 15 in Evolve’s normal time-slot on the ad-supported streamer (8 p.m. Eastern), and there’s no indication it won’t be taped in advance as usual. It will have both the Evolve Men’s and Women’s titles on the line for the first time ever:
- Inaugural Men’s champ Jackson Drake faces the winner of next week’s #1 contenders match between Keanu Carver and Brooks Jensen. Drake has three successful defenses on his resume, including one in a Triple Threat with Carver and Jensen.
- The first Evolve Women’s champion Kali Armstrong makes her fifth defense against Kendal Grey, who beat Chantal Monroe for the honor on last night’s show.

Thoughts? Will you be checking Succession out on Oct. 15? If so, will it be your first time watching Evolve?
