For the first time in the Southeastern Conference’s 129-year history, the league will operate under a nine-game conference schedule, beginning in 2026.
With that also comes three permanent opponents attached to each program’s schedule. Earlier this week, Texas A&M discovered its three rivals for the foreseeable future will consist of the Texas Longhorns, LSU Tigers and Missouri Tigers.
The news came with mixed opinions from much of the Maroon and White faithful, including head coach Mike Elko. Entering his second year at the helm for the Aggies, Elko expressed his confusion, specifically with the addition of Mizzou as one of Texas A&M’s instilled rivals moving forward.
Texas A&M coach Mike Elko said what a lot of Aggie fans probably thought when they learned Texas, LSU and Missouri are set to be their three annual opponents: “Missouri, I’m not sure how that fit in, but it is what it is.” pic.twitter.com/jQO3AjeoDP

The Lone Star Showdown was undoubtedly a lock due to the storied history against the in-state rivals from Austin, Texas. LSU is a program that Texas A&M has consistently battled in some of the most epic SEC matchups since joining the conference in 2012. However, the newness and unexpected inclusion of Missouri left out teams like Arkansas and Mississippi State, who would have made more sense as permanent rivals for the Aggies.
Before Texas A&M and the rest of the SEC enter this new realm of nine conference games, here is where the Aggies stand historically against the three league foes:
