We’re still a few months out, but amid the heart of football season, anticipation is steadily building around the Texas A&M basketball program under newly appointed head coach Bucky McMillan. On Thursday, Coach Bucky addressed the media and provided an update on several key injuries. The news regarding Aggie forward Mackenzie Mgbako was a mix of encouraging and concerning developments.
The concerning part is that Mgbako recently underwent surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his foot. The encouraging part: according to Coach Bucky, Mgbako is only expected to miss the opening stretch of the season.
“had a good surgery and should be back sometime in early to mid November. It’s not one that will jeopardize anything when he gets back.”
With the season tipping off on November 3 against Northwestern State, Mgbako is likely to miss the first five or six games. However, he’s expected to be back in rhythm in time for the ACC-SEC Challenge matchup against Pitt in early December.
