3 bold predictions for Alabama's massive Week 5 matchup vs. Georgia

On Saturday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide are faced with what is likely to be their toughest test yet in a road trip to Athens to face the Georgia Bulldogs.

A game in which the Crimson Tide are likely not the favorite going in, Alabama has owned the recent head-to-head series against Georgia over the last decade, a span that includes a 41-34 victory just last season in Tuscaloosa.

As for this season’s matchup in Athens, both of Alabama and Georgia come into this game ranked as Top 25 teams’ nationally in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, and are likely to put on yet another classic this Saturday. However, just how might this year’s matchup play out?

Here are three bold Crimson Tide predictions for the Alabama vs. Georgia showdown in Week 5.

Jam Miller rushes for 100+ yards in season debut

One of the biggest storylines going into Saturday’s matchup is the fact that Alabama gets starting running back Jam Miller back, as the senior has missed the entirety of the 2025 season so far due to an injury. Alabama has struggled to run the ball at times this season averaging only 123.7 rushing yards per game, which is among the lowest totals in the SEC, but a big game from Miller would not surprise here now back to 100%, even despite Georgia’s defense not allowing a 100-yard rusher yet this season.

Ty Simpson has an early-season ‘Heisman moment’

Entering this past week, Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson continued to rise in the latest Heisman Trophy odds prior to the Georgia game. Simpson has been outstanding over the Crimson Tide’s last two games, and if Alabama were to leave Athens late Sunday night with a victory, then it would likely mean that the Crimson Tide quarterback had a strong showing, catapulting himself further into the Heisman conversation.

Ryan Williams has an even better 2025 matchup vs. Georgia

Lastly, the biggest talking point coming out of last season’s game in Tuscaloosa was the play of then Alabama true freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams, who made some big plays in the Crimson Tide’s win, headlined by a 75-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Finishing with six receptions for 177 yards and a touchdown, is it possible that Williams has an even better showing against the Bulldogs this time around?
