Game. Set. Match. Jensen scores for Brentford!
Yarmoliuk races clear on the break and sets up substitute Jensen who smashes home from distance. That is that.
Explanation on Collins not being sent off
Here’s what the Premier League have said about Collins not being sent off for pulling back Mbeumo. If Mbeumo wasn’t pulled back, surely he would have had possession of the ball?
#BREMUN – 71’
The referee’s call of penalty was checked and confirmed by VAR – with Collins deemed to pulled Mbeumo back. VAR also checked the referee’s call of yellow card to Collins – and deemed that Mbeumo wasn’t in control of the ball.

De Ligt’s effort flies just wide
United have launched in a long throw and it finds De Ligt at the back post but his hooked effort flies just wide.
Penalty kick to Man United… and Bruno Fernandes misses!
A lovely flick around the corner sets Cunha free and he crosses perfectly for Mbeumo. Nathan Collins pulls him back just as he’s about to finish and the referee points to the penalty spot. VAR is checking for a potential red card on Collins…but he stays on. He’s very lucky. That was a clear pull back on Mbeumo and he didn’t make a genuine attempt to win the ball. Bizarre. Anyway, Bruno Fernandes steps up… but his penalty kick is saved superbly by Kelleher down to his left! Not a great penalty by Fernandes. A glorious chance for United to draw level has come and gone.
Mainoo, Yoro on for United
Two changes for United as Yoro is on for Maguire, while Mainoo is on for Ugarte. Amorim loves to sub on a center back and Mainoo’s arrival is obviously a more attack-minded approach. Looks like United have gone to a 3-1-4-2 system now.
Brentford almost score a third!
Schade beats Dalot easily and cuts it back for Dango Ouattara who is unmarked, 12 yards out. His low shot is central but Bayindir gets down low to save well again. That could have been that. Just about 30 minutes to go…
Cunha denied by Kelleher
Mbeumo is growing into the game and charges towards the box, then tees up Cunha. His low shot is straight at Kelleher who saves easily. United in control of this game now.
A stat United’s fans will love
Brentford have dropped more points (8) from winning positions than any other team in the Premier League so far this season.
Half time: Brentford 2-1 Manchester United
What a brilliant first half that was. Lots of direct play from both teams but Brentford have looked sturdier at the back and lead after some shaky United defending. Given how dangerous they’ve looked in attack on a few occasions, there’s still a sense United could come back and win this though…
Things have settled down a little
As we approach half time United have calmed down at the back and are finally starting to connect a few passes and have some control of this game. Brentford aren’t really sure whether to stick or twist at the moment.
Sesko finishes at the third attempt!
A high ball into the box catches out Kelleher who is under pressure from Mbeumo. There’s no foul there. Kelleher then denies Sesko twice from close range but at the third attempt the Slovenian striker smashes home his first Manchester United goal. VAR checks the goal but it stands. United are back in it!
This is so easy for Brentford every time they come forward
This is just woeful defensively from Manchester United. They are so imbalanced as a team. Back three totally exposed due to the lack of cover from midfield and they’re constantly under pressure. Brentford could have scored 4 already. No composure whatsoever from #MUFC.

Igor Thiago again!
De Ligt is all over the place and Schade is in. His cross is bundled out by Bayindir but it’s straight to Igor Thiago who is there to tape home. Wow.
Fine double save from Bayindir!
Two great saves from the young Turkish goalkeeper! He has been under severe pressure since Brentford’s goal with long throws and crosses flying in. First he pushes away a close-range header from Sepp van den Berg away, then he tips Collins’ header over the bar. Excellent play from all involved. Brentford pushing hard for the second.
Igor Thiago smashes home for Brentford!
With United pushing for the opener, they have been caught on the counter as one long ball over the top from Jordan Henderson finds Igor Thiago. He just beats the offside trap as Harry Maguire tried to play him off, then Thiago absolutely smashes home off the bar. What a finish. After a VAR check for offside, the goal stands. After United’s bright start, Brentford lead with their first shot of the match!
Bright start from United’s front three
That is nice play from United up top. Sesko races clear, then finds Mbeumo and he plays in Sesko who can’t quite tee up Cunha on the turn. Really excited to see these three start together today.

Brentford vs Manchester United preview
It would be what fictional baseball manager Lou Brown calls “two in a row” en route to a “winning streak”, as the Red Devils seek to find steadiness while moving closer to the Premier League’s top four.
Their hosts are seeking a second win of the Premier League season, having started 1W-1D-3L under new boss Keith Andrews. Brentford have, however, taken four of six points from their two home fixtures.
They’ll be welcoming Bryan Mbeumo back to the Gtech, as the Manchester United forward hopes to get on the score sheet against his former club.

Brentford vs Manchester United prediction
Could we be in for a goal fest? Casemiro’s absence suggests even more openness than usual for United, and Brentford have struggled to bat away chances. Both teams have questions in goal as Caoimhin Kelleher tries to establish his star in London while it’s unclear whether United will go for Altay Bayindir or Senne Lammers. Brentford 1-2 Man United.
