Live updates; 2nd Qtr — No. 28 Bixby [OK] Spartans 38, Jenks [OK] Trojans 28
originally appeared on The Sporting News
JENKS, Oklahoma, Sept. 26 — Bixby leads Jenks, 38-28.
Both teams come in with identical 3-0 records, and both the Spartans and Trojans have been able to score points while shutting down the opposition. Bixby has outscored its foes, 162-35, while Jenks has 130 total points while holding its opponents to 58 total points.
It’s also a matchup of two teams that have combined to win the last five 6A-I titles – the last three won by Bixby after the Spartans moved up from 6A-II, part of their current run of winning the last seven state championships. Not to mention it’s also the District 6A-I-1 opener.
Bixby is also 88-4 since the start of the 2018 season, though two of those losses were to Jenks. Perhaps the two teams’ most famous game in that stretch was in 2022, when the Trojans ended Bixby’s state 11-man record 58-game win streak, though the Spartans got revenge several weeks later in a playoff rematch.
