Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has once again found himself making NFL history by joining a rare club that only includes two other players. With his performance in Sunday’s 27-20 win over the previously unbeaten Indianapolis Colts, Nacua became just the third player in league history to record at least eight receptions in each of his team’s first four games of a season.
The only others to do so are Eric Moulds in 2002 and T.J. Houshmandzadeh in 2007.
That stat was shared by the Rams’ PR team on social media, showing just how rare Nacua’s hot start to the season has been. Not only has he had eight-plus catches in each game, but he’s caught 10, 11 and 13 passes in three of those four games.
WR Puka Nacua has joined Eric Moulds (in 2002 with Buffalo) and T.J. Houshmandzadeh (in 2007 with Cincinnati) as the only players in NFL history with at least eight catches in each of his team’s first four games of a season.#Rams | #RamsHousepic.twitter.com/Vt6FUo3R1Y

Now in his third season in the league, Nacua has established himself as arguably the best receiver in football. Against the Colts, he brought in 13 catches for 170 yards and an important touchdown, a 9-yard pass from Matthew Stafford that tied the game up at 20 with 3:20 to go in the 4th quarter. His ability to consistently move the chains and make big plays has elevated him into elite company, further proving himself to be a massive difference-maker in this league
Nacua’s emergence highlights the impact he makes when he is on the field, showcasing his physicality and route running while consistently coming up clutch. Nacua has become the focal point of his team’s passing attack. His presence forces defenses to adjust their coverage schemes, opening opportunities for his teammates, as we saw with Davante Adams and Tutu Atwell’s touchdown receptions today, and keeping Los Angeles balanced against tough opponents.
By tying history with his fourth straight eight-catch game to start the season, Nacua has shown how special he is since being drafted in the fifth round. As the Rams improve to 3-1 on the season with San Francisco coming into town for Thursday Night Football, his connection with quarterback Matthew Stafford is crucial to the success of the offense. If this pace continues, Nacua could not only surpass the achievements of Moulds and Houshmandzadeh but could also find his name alongside many others in the record books.
