High school football player proposes to girlfriend in end zone after win

Chandler Coman, a senior lineman for Palmer High School in Alaska, had a night to remember as he celebrated both a football victory and a life-changing proposal.

After helping his team defeat Chugiak High School on senior night, Coman proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Layla Buzzard, in the end zone, surrounded by cheering teammates, family, and friends. According to KTUU, Buzzard quickly said yes.

The proposal had been months in the making, with many in on the surprise, except Buzzard, who was completely unaware. Coman’s father offered key advice, encouraging him to seek Buzzard’s father’s blessing rather than permission.

The couple met through the Future Farmers of America, where Coman serves as president, and have shared a close bond over three years. With the engagement sealed and Palmer’s playoff hopes alive, Coman looked forward to celebrating the milestone and catching up on sleep after a hard-fought game.
