Before members of the team reported back to the Bay Area for the start of training camp and media day, the Golden State Warriors made headlines with a flurry of free agent signings, including veteran big man Al Horford. However, the Warriors are waiting to resolve their contract stalemate with restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga before announcing some of their offseason signings and making things official.
With Horford’s reported multi-year deal yet to be official, players at media day on Monday in San Francisco were unable to answer certain questions about their new teammate. However, that didn’t stop some members of the media from asking questions about Horford and his fit with the Warriors.
When Jimmy Butler hit the podium and was asked about Horford, the Golden State forward had a hilarious response. After being asked a question about Horford, Butler quickly responded, “Who’s that?”

Butler should be all too familiar with Horford, as the two have spent years battling in the Eastern Conference while members of the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics.
Dating back to Butler’s time in Chicago, he’s played against Horford in the postseason three times, including in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2023 and 2020.
Horford and Butler are now joining forces in the Western Conference with Golden State. Horford is expected to slide into Steve Kerr’s starting lineup alongside Draymond Green in the frontcourt.
