Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a dislocated left knee in the team’s 27-21 win against the New York Jets, head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed to reporters after the game.
That diagnosis was initially reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport who said that was the Dolphins’ fear when Hill left the stadium to go to a nearby hospital. That injury typically comes with ligament tears, and Hill will stay overnight as he undergoes more tests, McDaniel said.
While McDaniel didn’t talk a timetable for the receiver’s recovery, it is almost certainly a season-ending injury for Hill. With more than $36 million of savings on the table if the Dolphins release the receiver in the 2026 offseason, it could also mean Hill has played his last game with the team.
Hill, who had six receptions for 67 yards before exiting, wasn’t despondent on the sideline as he was attended to by trainers. In fact, the receiver was cracking jokes to teammates and smiled to fans as he was carted out of the stadium. McDaniel credited Hill’s attitude with helping Dolphins players stay focused in spite of the gruesome setback.
“He was inspiring in that situation, and I think his teammates benefited from that,” McDaniel said.
Hill’s season is presumably over with 21 receptions for 265 yards and a touchdown. He has never before missed more than four games in a season.
