For the past two weeks, USC had been ranked in the top 25 of the college football AP Poll. After falling to Illinois on Saturday, however, the Trojans dropped out of the top 25, and are once again not ranked.
After starting the season outside of the top 25 for the first time in six years, USC entered the rankings at No. 25 two weeks ago, and rose to No. 21 following last week’s victory over Michigan State. Following Saturday’s loss, however, the Trojans dropped right back down to where they opened the year.
USC did still receive 22 votes, putting them sixth among other teams receiving votes. Illinois, meanwhile, moved up one spot to No. 22.
Fortunately for the Trojans, they will not have to wait very long for an opportunity to get back into the rankings. If USC can beat Michigan—who fell one spot to No. 20—at home in two weeks, they will almost certainly re-enter the top 25.
