The New York Jets are still looking for their first win under the watch of head coach Aaron Glenn and they were close to it in Week 4… at least on the scoreboard.
The Jets (0-4) visited the Miami Dolphins (1-3) for an AFC East battle and pulled within striking distance late despite being outplayed most of the day. Despite that, the Green and White did not get the victory over the finish line.
Instead, the Dolphins took their first win of the year on “Monday Night Football” in a 27-21 final.
With that, here is Jets Wire’s instant analysis of the Jets’ loss to the Fins:
What went right?
While the Jets did not come close to winning this game despite the scoreboard appearing so, there were a few individuals on offense that did put up some numbers.
Quarterback Justin Fields had his explosive touchdown run from 42 yards out. While Fields was 20-for-27 for 226 yards but his efforts didn’t really push New York close to the win.
At least one good did come from Fields’ numbers, No. 1 wideout Garrett Wilson had six catches for 82 yards and a touchdown grab in the dying minutes.
Overall the Jets’ offense just is not in sync.
What went wrong?
Pretty much everything else the eye can see on defense. Was not that not supposed to be head coach Aaron Glenn’s side of the ball?
That Jets defense cannot tackle, can’t cover anyone consistently as Dolphins tight end Darren Waller hit the ground running in his season debut plus receiver Tyrell Hill before his awful injury… and just, the penalties.
What’s the bottom line?
The Jets are one of only three 0-4 teams left in the NFL. The other two are the Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints, a pair of rebuilding teams.
The bottom line is the Green and White were suppose to show some sign of improvement under Glenn. They’ve gotten worse.
What’s next?
The Jets will return to the NFC again. The Dallas Cowboys (1-2-1) head to New York for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Sunday in Week 5.
