Iowa football among final four schools for 2027 TE

Iowa football’s tight end tradition and the Hawkeye coaching staff will always attract the best and brightest. Thanks to that rich history at the position and the culture of the Hawkeyes’ program, Iowa is in the final mix to land one of the top tight ends in the 2027 recruiting class.

Four-star tight end Cooper Terwilliger revealed to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett that he’s down to his four finalists. Per Fawcett, Iowa joins Iowa State, Michigan and Nebraska among the final four schools that Terwilliger will choose from.

A 6-foot-6, 230-pound from T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre, S.D., Terwilliger caught 41 passes for 549 receiving yards with four touchdowns a season ago as a sophomore.

Per 247Sports, Terwilliger is the nation’s 179th-ranked player in the 2027 class, the No. 10 tight end and the No. 1 player from South Dakota. According to Rivals, Terwilliger is the country’s 202nd-ranked player nationally, the No. 13 tight end and the top player in South Dakota. Terwilliger is a consensus four-star prospect.

In addition to his finalists, Terwilliger also picked up offers from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.
