The Arizona Cardinals have lost two consecutive games and currently sit in last place in the NFC West. Naturally, they have fallen in new NFL power rankings.
How far have they fallen?
In Paul Davis’ Week 5 NFL power rankings for USA TODAY, the Cardinals fell three spots from No. 16 to No. 19 overall.
Kyler Murray is now 8-22 in divisional games, the worst record among starting quarterbacks since realignment in 2002.
That is a harrowing stat.
The Cardinals’ two losses were in the final minute against two quality opponents. But at 0-2 in the division, they are behind the sticks a bit. They can’t afford to lose to San Francisco or Seattle again this season or they will lose head-to-head tiebreakers.
The offense has been frustrating, Marvin Harrison Jr. has been inconsistent and James Conner is out for the season.
But the Cardinals have a get-well game coming. After the extra rest, they play the 0-4 Tennessee Titans at home on Sunday. The Titans are dead last in these power rankings, and rookie quarterback Cam Ward said they “are (expletive)”
This should be a week in which the Cardinals look good and reset things.
