Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler has been released from custody after serving less than three days in a Williamson County jail, The Tennessean has confirmed.
A Williamson County judge ordered Cutler to serve a four-day sentence after he pleaded guilty to DUI in August.
A request for comment on why Cutler was released early from the jail has not been returned as of press time for this story.
Culter was originally arrested in October 2024. The Franklin Police Department was called to the 200 block of Bridge Street after investigators said Cutler, driving a White Dodge Ram pick-up truck, rear-ended a GMC on Oct. 17, 2024.
The former football star offered the driver of the GMC cash to let him drive away, an affidavit said.
“During their conversation with Cutler, officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol,” a statement from Franklin Police said at the time. “Cutler was also slurring his words and had blood shot eyes.”
He was booked and later released on a $5,000 bond.
Cutler was originally scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 16, but was granted multiple continuances.
He entered the guilty plea Aug. 26. He was originally charged with driving under the influence and an additional weapons possession charge, but the latter was dropped as part of a plea arrangement.
The driver of the GMC has filed a lawsuit against Cutler seeking damages for pain and suffering as a result of the crash. That case is pending in Williamson County Circuit Court.
As part of his plea arrangement, Cutler has been ordered to serve one year of unsupervised probation and must attend a DUI safety class.
