Former Vol makes MLB playoff debut

Los Angeles defeated Cincinnati, 8-4, Wednesday in game No. 2 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California. The Dodgers won the best-of-three MLB Wild Card playoff series, 2-0.

Former Tennessee pitcher Chase Burns made his MLB playoff debut for the Reds on Wednesday. He pitched 1.2 innings in relief and recorded one strikeout. Burns totaled 13 pitches, including nine strikes, against five batters. Two strikes were on a first pitch.

Los Angeles hit four ground outs for outs against the former Vol.

Burns played at Tennessee from 2022-23 before transferring to Wake Forest in 2024. Tennessee won the 2022 SEC Tournament and regular-season championship, and advanced to the 2023 College World Series.

Burns was selected No. 2 overall in the first round of the 2024 MLB draft by the Reds.
