Brian Schwake of Nashville SC came up with the timely save after Austin FC had a chance to score in the U.S. Open Cup final Oct. 1 in Austin.
Schwake, who usually is not Nashville’s starting goalkeeper, conceded the controversial penalty after fouling Myrto Uzuni. But he made up for it after diving to his right to block the ball, keeping Nashville’s lead at 1-0.
Schwake came up with another big save soon after, but Uzuni found the back of the net shortly before halftime to tie up the match at 1-1.
Austin leads in possession at 54% and has five shots on goal; Nashville SC has one.
