3 injured Steelers likely to return after bye vs. Browns in Week 6

The bye week couldn’t have come at a better time, as several injuries have decimated the Pittsburgh Steelers on both sides of the ball — but three starters are seemingly set to return against the Cleveland Browns in Week 6.

On Friday, Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette shared three injured Steelers he believes are on the verge of returning — Joey Porter Jr., Alex Highsmith, and Jaylen Warren.

“I think [Joey Porter Jr.] was close to coming back for the Vikings game,” Fittipaldo said via 93.7 The Fan. “I do think he’s gonna be ready to go for Cleveland. I think Alex Highsmith is gonna be back. I think Jaylen Warren will be back.”

Back in Week 1, Porter was pulled from the Steelers’ 34-32 win over the New York Jets with a hamstring injury. Highsmith was quickly ruled out against the Seattle Seahawks with an injured ankle. Warren’s situation was far more surprising, as his status quickly changed from non-injury resting veteran on Wednesday to picking up a knee injury on Thursday — which ultimately kept him from playing against the Vikings in Week 4.

Porter and Warren will slot back into the starting lineup when healthy, but it remains to be seen how Pittsburgh will handle the return of Highsmith, as standout pass rusher Nick Herbig has put together two impressive performances in his absence.
