After earning a top ranking for their 2025 class,Longhorns baseball has continued building for the future. On Thursday, the Longhorns secured a commitment from LHP Hayden Anderson. The Iowa native is one of the top pitching prospects in his class and gives the Longhorns’ 2027 class an instant boost.
In Anderson, Texas is adding a pitcher with a diverse pitch mix. His arsenal includes a fastball that currently tops out at 90 miles per hour. He also possesses a changeup that keeps opponents off balance. His pitch mix should continue to improve before he reaches the college level, making him a harder pitcher to face.

While the newest Longhorn will have to wait a few years to make his college debut, he has high expectations. On social media, Anderson gave fans a preview of the type of player they are getting when he announced his commitment.
On an Instagram post, Anderson said, “I’m looking forward to putting in the work and representing the Longhorns brand of excellence.”
Hayden Anderson (27 IA) worked up to 88 early with lots of arm side movement. Also mixed a sharp slider in the mid-70s (shown). Tough match up with the horizontal movement on all and low slot. #UCAAGames@IowaPG@PG_Uncommittedpic.twitter.com/foQTXaVWZd

When Anderson arrives on campus, he will be part of a talented 2027 class. The Longhorns have also secured commitments from LHP Luke Armijo, RHP/ OF JJ Utash, RHP Becket Berg, OF Ira Rootman, and Catcher Lee Holt. With more holes to fill, the Longhorns are far from done and are expected to be active in the coming days and months.
Although Fans have to be patient when it comes to seeing Anderson in action, he has all the tools to be a star. He has already shown that he has the stuff to miss bats with an arsenal that is continuing to evolve. That should make him a lot of fun to watch when it is time to start his college career.
