Former Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers is missing an NFL game for the first time in his career. The Las Vegas Raiders listed him as inactive for their matchup vs. the Indianapolis Colts, according to Adam Schefter.
Bowers is considered “week-to-week” with a PCL injury. Bowers has been playing through a PCL injury and bone bruises in his knees since Week 1 vs. the New England Patriots. His doctors have been saying the only way for him to recover fully is to rest, which Bowers has refused to do so far this season, so this could help him become healthier.
Bowers broke NFL tight end and Raiders franchise records during his rookie season, but up to this point, he hasn’t been the same. He has 225 yards and no touchdowns through four games, and he hasn’t eclipsed 50 yards since Week 1 vs. the Patriots.
It’s a rare moment when Brock Bowers is inactive. Bowers’ only other notbale injury occurred in 2023 with Georgia. Bowers suffered an ankle injury and missed three games, but he still won the John Mackey award for being the best tight end in college football anyway. To this day, he is the only tight end in college football to win the Mackey award twice.
That led to the Raiders drafting him with the No. 13 pick of the 2024 NFL draft, and ever since then, he’s been worth the pick. He needs to rest to get back to form, though.
