Is Trevon Diggs starting for Cowboys on Sunday?

Last Sunday was uncharted territory for Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs in his young NFL career. For the first time since his 2020 rookie season, Diggs did not start for Dallas. The Cowboys’ coaching staff justified the decision by saying Diggs wasn’t entirely healthy, a claim with which Diggs disagreed.

Whatever happened here, it all seems like it’s under the bridge now that the Cowboys have a chance to reach .500 with a win against the New York Jets today.

According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, Diggs will return to the Cowboys’ starting lineup against Gang Green. The confirmation didn’t come from Diggs without a somewhat snippy comment about what might have actually happened behind the scenes. Again, though, that’s all in the past now. Maybe:

At his best, Diggs was a First-Team All-Pro in 2021. But he hasn’t reached that level in recent years. I’m sure that he and the Cowboys are hoping he can start regaining that form as he returns to the starting lineup.
