While Notre Dame was taking on Boise State, the Irish once again used the weekend to host a variety of prospects, and for one, it was well worth the trip.
During a visit to South Bend on an unofficial trip, Illinois linebacker Roman Igwebuike was offered a scholarship. The 6-foot, 3-inch and 220-pounder is the latest star from powerhouse Mount Carmel that the Irish have offered. Igwebuike is ranked as the country’s No. 98 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite, and now the Irish are battling teams like Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan and a host of others for his commitment.
He’s taken multiple visits this fall, with Notre Dame being the most recent one. Many of them have resulted in getting an offer, so this one shouldn’t surprise anyone. It won’t be an easy recruitment for the Irish, but now that they’ve stepped up with a scholarship, they should be firmly in the mix to land the star linebacker.
