Pennsylvania High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams – Oct. 5

The high school football season continued in Pennsylvania last week, as many of the top programs in the Keystone State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed. No. 1 La Salle College beat No. 1 St. Joseph’s Prep while No. 5 Peters Township and No. 6 Harrisburg remained undefeated.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Pennsylvania high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Oct. 5.

1. La Salle College (5-1)

The Explorers bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 31-20 win over No. 4 St. Joseph’s Prep School on Friday. Senior quarterback Gavin Sidwar, a Missouri commit, passed for four touchdowns in La Salle College’s victory. Next up for the Explorers is a matchup against No. 20 Monsignor Bonner.

2. Central Catholic (6-1)

Make it six-straight victories for the Vikings, with the team rolling to a 69-7 romp over Shaler Area on Friday. Central Catholic should be expected to push its record to 7-1 against Norwin next week as the team owns an all-time 13-0 record in the series.

3. Malvern Prep (4-1)

The Friars were off this week. Malvern Prep will face off against Germantown Academy on Saturday.

4. St. Joseph’s Prep School (2-4)

The Hawks are now 2-4 on the season after losing to No. 1 La Salle College 31-20 on Saturday. St. Joseph’s Prep School was held scoreless in the first half. Charlie Foulke IV threw three second-half touchdown passes but it ultimately wasn’t enough. The Hawks have another massive Pennsylvania high school football matchup this week against No. 8 Roman Catholic.

5. Peters Township (7-0)

The Indians’ undefeated season continues after their 21-10 win over Moon Area on Friday. Peters Township trailed 3-0 at the half and 10-0 early in the third quarter. The team rallied and scored 21 unanswered points to secure the victory. The Indians will face off against South Fayette Township on Friday.

6. Harrisburg (7-0)

Another week, another blowout win for the Cougars. This week it was a 45-7 rout of Altoona. Senior receiver Elias Coke, a Rutgers commit, scored three touchdowns in Harrisburg’s victory. The Cougars’ Pennsylvania high school football season continues Friday against Cumberland Valley.

7. Pine-Richland (6-1)

The Rams’ offensive prowess continued this week with a 63-19 win over Penn Hills. Pine-Richland led 42-7 at the half and never looked back. Junior quarterback Aaron Strader passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more in the win. Next up for the Rams is a Friday date against Greater Latrobe.

8. Roman Catholic (4-2)

The Cahillite snapped Cardinal O’Hara‘s five-game winning streak on Friday, cruising to a 33-7 victory. Roman Catholic quarterback Semaj Beals threw for 262 yards and accounted for four total touchdowns in the win. The team will face off against No. 4 St. Joseph’s Prep School on Friday.

9. North Allegheny (6-1)

The Tigers bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 28-19 win over Mt. Lebanon. North Allegheny returned the game’s opening kick for a touchdown and never looked back. Running back Luke Rohan rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown in the win. The Tigers will continue their Pennsylvania high school football season on Friday against Canon-McMillan.

10. Upper Saint Clair (6-1)

The Panthers rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 50-14 romp over South Fayette Township. Quarterback Ethan Hellmann threw two touchdowns in Upper Saint Clair‘s win. The Panthers will tangle with Bethel Park on Friday.
