Report: Bucky Irving's shoulder injury more of a cause for concern than his foot

The Bucs’ running game is one of the more important aspects of their offense over the last couple of years. Ever since the days of Dave Canales being in charge of play-calling, there has been a renewed focus on the run game. In 2025, second-year running back Bucky Irving was going to be the workhorse back they had been longing for, but now he is working his way back from injury.

While everyone was focused on a foot injury that had him in a walking boot, ESPN’s Adam Schefter says it is his shoulder injury that has the team more concerned.

Schefetr posted on social media, saying, “Turns out that Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving’s shoulder injury, which he did not report to the team until Tuesday last week, is more of an issue than his sprained foot, per sources. Irving is dealing with a shoulder subluxation that is expected to sideline him at least two weeks. Irving will not play today vs. the Seahawks and he’s not expected back for next week’s game vs. the 49ers, either.”

If Irving does miss the team’s next game as well, they are going to once again lean on Rachaad White, just as they will in Week 5. The team also boasts Sean Tucker and Josh Williams behind him on the depth chart, who are likely to get work out of the backfield as well.
