The Indianapolis Colts will be without Spencer Shrader for the remainder of the 2025 NFL season, head coach Shane Steichen announced on Monday.
Shrader would suffer ACL and MCL injuries in his right knee during Sunday’s game with the Las Vegas Raiders.
On an extra point attempt, Raiders’ safety Tristin McCollum ran into Shrader’s right leg. Shrader remained down after the collision and then gingerly walked off the field.
After initially going to the medical tent, Shrader headed to the locker room and was ruled out of the game.
“Disappointed for him,” Steichen said, via Colts.com. “He was having a hell of a season. … It’s going to be very difficult to replace a guy like that.”
The Colts now have to replace Shrader, which won’t be an easy task. The AFC’s Special Teams Player of the Month for September was perfect on extra points and 13-of-14 on field goals, which included a game-winner against Denver.
According to Steichen, the team will bring kickers in over the next 24 hours to try out.
“We’ll bring in a few guys here in the next 24 hours to work them out and I know there’s some names out there,” Steichen said. “Chris (Ballard) is working through that. So we’ll get some guys in here and then we’ll go from there.”
