CM Punk cleverly referenced one of his best adversaries from AEW on RAW this week.
During his promo on this week’s episode of WWE RAW, CM Punk acknowledged a sign in the crowd that said he deserved to get the World Heavyweight Championship back. Punk said he doesn’t deserve it, but he earned it.
He then explained why Seth Rollins couldn’t beat him in a fair fight before putting a fun twist on MJF’s famed catchphrase.
“And I love the sign and I appreciate the passion, but ‘deserves’ is the wrong word. Earned is the word. Because at every turn, when it’s one-on-one, straight-up, man to man, Seth Rollins, I got your number. Seth Rollins, CM Punk is better than you, and everybody knows it.”
CM Punk and MJF had a great rivalry in AEW
MJF is known for saying, “I’m better than you, and you know it.” He and Punk were engaged in a bitter feud in AEW during the first half of 2022. MJF is responsible for Punk’s first singles loss in AEW. The ‘Salt of the Earth’ picked up a win on the February 2, 2022, episode of Dynamite. The rivalry came to an end after Punk beat MJF in a bloody and brutal Dog Collar match at that year’s AEW Revolution PPV.
This week’s episode of WWE RAW also saw CM Punk team up with LA Knight, who also made a case for being in the world title picture. They teamed against the Usos in the main event, which was set up after an in-ring incident between the four earlier in the show. The show closed with Knight “stealing” the win for himself after Punk had hit his GTS finisher.
