In Week 2 against the Houston Texans, linebacker Lavonte David was embarrassed in front of a national audience when he had a C.J. Stroud pass hit him square in the hands, and he dropped it. That would have been an easy interception for the All-Pro linebacker who has made a career out of making plays in pass coverage.
David shared on The Pat McAfee Show that his teammate, Vita Vea, was giving him a hard time about the drop and not letting him forget the missed opportunity. It took three weeks, but David finally got the last laugh on his teammate.
In Week 5, Lavonte David caught a tipped pass from Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold that set up a Bucs‘ game-winning field goal. When that happened, Pat McAfee knew exactly what that meant for David and took to social media.

David now has an interception in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the 2019 -2020 seasons. He has 14 in total in his career, and at age 35, he has slowed down, but he remains a strong presence in the middle of the Bucs’ defense.
