Senegal and DR Congo remain locked in a fierce battle for the direct qualification spot in Group B. Currently, the Lions of Teranga hold the lead with a two-point advantage over the Leopards.
Senegal’s dramatic away victory over DR Congo (2-3) has changed the landscape of this group. The 2022 African champions now have their destiny in their own hands. They must first win away against South Sudan on October 10, then face Mauritania at home four days later.
The Leopards must defeat both Togo and Sudan and hope that Pape Thiaw’s squad slips up in order to finally secure a place in the final phase of the 2026 World Cup.
