It has been a frustrating few weeks for Michigan State football. After starting the season 3-0, the Spartans have dropped two straight after starting the season with much higher expectations than last year. In their most recent loss to Nebraska, there was a tense moment on the sideline when MSU’s star wide receiver Nick Marsh appeared to yell at quarterback Aidan Chiles in frustration.
Marsh, as we saw on the broadcast, looked to get open at the end of a play, and clearly wanted Chiles to trust him and throw him the ball. The moment was definitely heated. For me, I thought this was actually a good reaction from two players who want to win and are frustrated with losing a game they had in control at one point, but the media rightfully asked Chiles about the moment after the game.
Chiles immediately downplayed the incident, citing the fact that it was a frustrating moment, there was ‘no controversy’ between him and Marsh, and the two sat next to each other on the plane ride home. Chiles acknowledged that Marsh was telling him he wanted the ball, and also acknowledged that both players were frustrated during a game that wasn’t going their way.
