On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers got back into the swing of things after the bye week to begin preparations for this week’s game against the Cleveland Browns. We are keeping a close eye on several injured Steelers who either missed their Week Four game against the Minnesota Vikings or were injured during the game. One of those guys is running back Jaylen Warren, who returned to work, but his status for this week’s game remains in question.
This presents an interesting choice for fantasy owners who were wise enough to scoop up Kenneth Gainwell and start him in Week Four. Gainwell finished with 99 rushing yards, six receptions for 35 receiving yards and two rushing touchdowns. This is elite-level fantasy performance, but also the best game by a Steelers running back in a long time.
Head coach Mike Tomlin is loyal to a fault, so if Warren is healthy, don’t be shocked if he gets the start and Tomlin ignores what Gainwell did in Dublin, even if it means the rushing offense takes a step back. However, after watching Gainwell operate in the passing game, we do think he has the best shot at a touchdown this week between the two backs against an up-and-down Cleveland defense.
