Oct. 7—SARTELL — Bemidji High School girls tennis players Megan Berg and Liz Peterson will compete for a spot at the Class 3A individual state tournament.
Berg and Peterson, the second-seeded duo at the Section 8-3A Individual Tournament, won both of their matches en route to a semifinal berth.
Berg and Peterson dispatched Brainerd’s Kamryn Kramer and Ava Haskell 6-3, 6-1 in their second match. They knocked off Bella Newbauer and Sophia Erickon 7-5, 7-5 in their opening matchup.
Berg and Peterson will take on third-seeded Kennedy and Addison Stevenson. Two duos from Section 8-3A will go to state.
Lilly Caron and Zoe McNallan also competed for the Jacks. They lost 6-3, 6-4 against Leah and Rebekah Soukup in the first round.
On the singles side, Kelli Carlson and Abby Myhrer both bowed out in straight sets in the play-in round.
The tournament will resume on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Sta-Fit in Sartell.
