A long-time position coach and several recent draft picks are among the former members of the Green Bay Packers now with the Cincinnati Bengals, who will play at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
The Packers and Bengals are scheduled for kick off at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday, and several players and a coach will be making their homecoming to Green Bay.
The former Packers connections on the Bengals:
— DL coach Jerry Montgomery: He spent nine seasons as a position coach in Green Bay and worked under both Mike McCarthy and Matt LaFleur. He spent three years as a defensive assistant and then was the defensive line coach for the Packers from 2018 to 2023. Montgomery is the defensive line and run game coordinator for the Bengals in 2025 after spending the 2024 season with the New England Patriots.
— LB Oren Burks: The Packers’ 2018 third-round pick is playing for his third team since leaving Green Bay in 2021. Burks has played 114 snaps at linebacker and 121 on special teams for the Bengals through five games, and he’s been a starter at linebacker each of the last two weeks.
— DL TJ Slaton: The Packers’ 2021 fifth-round pick signed with the Bengals as a free agent this past offseason. He’s made nine run stops and has three quarterback hits in five games. Slaton is a hit-or-miss disruptor against both the run and pass, but he can make plays in the backfield. And he also blocked a field goal while with the Packers.
— DL Mike Pennel: One of the great undrafted free agent finds by former Packers general manager Ted Thompson, Pennel has carved out a long career in the NFL as a run-stuffing interior defender. He played three seasons in Green Bay (2014-16) and later won two Super Bowls while with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bengals have had him on the field for over 100 snaps this season, including 59 against the run.
–– G Lucas Patrick: Another undrafted gem from Thompson. Patrick, who played six seasons in Green Bay and appeared in 73 games for the Packers, has been designated for return from injured reserve by the Bengals. He started at right guard but injured his calf after 16 plays in the season opener.
— QB Sean Clifford: The Packers’ 2023 fifth-round pick is on the Bengals practice squad. He’s a Cincinnati native. Clifford was the team’s backup quarterback as a rookie in 2023 but spent the 2024 season as the third quarterback on the practice squad and then failed to make the team in 2025. He will likely be the emergency quarterback behind Joe Flacco and Jake Browning on Sunday.
