Real Madrid prodigy shares views on comparisons with Barcelona superstar – ‘It doesn’t bother me’

Real Madrid summer signing Franco Mastantuono has spoken about the ongoing comparisons with Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, insisting that he is determined to focus on his own development rather than get caught up in media narratives.

Ever since rumours of Real Madrid’s interest in Mastantuono emerged, the media have frequently drawn parallels between him and Yamal.

The comparisons are understandable as both are 18 years old, play in similar positions, and are seen as potential stars who could define the next era for their respective clubs.

Mastantuono does not pay attention

Interestingly, Mastantuono has made it clear that such talk does not distract him from his main goal – performing on the pitch for Real Madrid.

In an interview with DSports, the Argentine star addressed the comparisons directly. He said,

“Comparison with Lamine Yamal? These comparisons always exist in football.

“The newspapers make these headlines, and they don’t bother me because I don’t compare myself with anyone. He’s a great player, but I’m focused on doing my thing,” as quoted by Madrid Xtra

The attention around Mastantuono and Yamal is intensified by Yamal’s recent achievements, including back-to-back Kopa Trophy wins, which have increased the anticipation for their future clashes.

Both players are already being viewed as cornerstones of the Madrid-Barça rivalry for years to come, with fans eager to see how the next generation will perform in one of football’s most iconic fixtures.

Meanwhile, the next major stage for this budding rivalry will be the El Clasico on October 26 at the Santiago Bernabeu, where Mastantuono could face Yamal for the first time in a competitive match.

The spotlight will inevitably be on both teenagers, but Mastantuono’s focus remains on contributing to Real Madrid’s success rather than worrying about comparisons.
