No. 5 Texas A&M (5-0, 2-0 SEC) will host Florida (2-3, 1-1 SEC) in a game that could determine the rest of the season for both programs, especially knowing that the Aggies will face three consecutive road games against Arkansas, LSU, and Missouri, needing to win two of those road tests to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff likely.
For the Gators, starting 1-3 before defeating Texas last weekend has kept Florida‘s season alive, for now, and beating the Aggies in Kyle Field would certainly provide more momentum amid a shaky start to the year. This week, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko didn’t give any specific injury updates concerning his roster, knowing that the first injury report would provide all the necessary information.
Over the last two games, Texas A&M has been without senior linebacker Scooby Williams and senior safety Bryce Anderson, who were both injured during the Aggies’ 41-40 road win over Notre Dame. According to the first SEC Availability Report, Anderson is not listed. At the same time, Scooby Williams is questionable, and reserve safety Jared Kerr is listed as out and will miss his first game of the season.
Junior linebacker Daymion Sanford, who was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week after recording nine tackles and an interception against Mississippi State, has been one of the Aggies’ best defenders since taking over for Williams, and will be hard to take off the field. However, this is good news for Scooby Williams, who, if needed, can fully heal to be 100% before returning.
For Florida, the injury list is extensive, featuring six players who will miss the game, along with seven players listed as questionable.
Texas A&M LB Scooby Williams remains questionable for Saturday’s bout with Florida.
