It has been a frustrating season for Mercyhurst Prep running back Vinnie Feliciano.
The track state champion, however, continues to produce big games for the Lakers.
On Oct. 10, Feliciano ran for 297 yards and eight touchdowns on just 15 carries in a 55-6 win over Iroquois at Mercyhurst University. The eight-touchdown performance is the most by one player in one game in District 10 this season. McDowell running back Brody Bonsell had seven in a win over Meadville.
Feliciano started the season with a lofty goal of 3,000 rushing yards. That goal has taken a turn as the junior speedster missed two games after being ejected from a win over Northwestern. He also missed a big opportunity on Oct. 3 as a game vs. Union City was canceled over a lack of healthy players for the Bears.
Feliciano took advantage of being back on the field against Iroquois. He had touchdown runs of 31, 3, 15 yards in the first quarter and touchdowns runs of 34 and 48 in the second quarter. He scored on a 4-yard run in the third quarter and had touchdown runs of 13 and 55 yards in the fourth quarter.
In 4½ games this season, Feliciano has 1,095 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground.
