Oct. 10—With season previews out of the way, the 35th episode of The Reporter’s Corner digs into the 2025-26 college hockey season, beginning with a chat with Augustana junior forward Brett Meerman.
A native of Blackfalds, Alberta, Meerman notched 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) a season ago to finish tied for the team lead in points. He enters the 2025-26 season having recorded 36 points in his first two seasons at the college level. Meerman talks about what the upcoming season looks like for a Vikings team that didn’t lose a single player to the transfer portal while also discussing his path to the college ranks, which featured a two-year stint of junior hockey in his hometown of Blackfalds as part of an expansion team in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
