The Minnesota Vikings are enjoying their Bye Week as they look to heal up, gather themselves up, and regroup to dominate the second half of their schedule. Since it is a Bye Week, there is going to be a lot of reflection on the team and how things went for them leading up to it.
One of those things is looking at various power rankings. The next group of rankings we wanted to look at is for the quarterbacks as the team gets ready to hopefully get their franchise passer back, J.J. McCarthy. For the time being, they have had to rely on backup Carson Wentz, who has played well above expectations both in terms of results and production.
CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin compiled his latest quarterback power rankings, and Wentz went up three spots to the 21st spot. He writes, “For one half of his second start in place of J.J. McCarthy, Wentz was borderline reckless, absorbing big shots on the move. His veteran touch prevailed in the end, as he kept feeding his gifted wideouts to complete an overseas comeback.”
There is no quarterback controversy, as the team remains committed to J.J. McCarthy. That being said, he needs to come out firing on all cylinders when he retires because the offense looked a little more efficient with Wentz under center.
Time will tell.
