5 takeaways from Rams' Week 6 victory over Ravens

The Los Angeles Rams traveled to Maryland for an interconference battle with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium, and Sean McVay’s team did just enough to earn a 17-3 win and improve to 4-2 on the season.

Los Angeles’ offense was lacking, and their defense was getting gashed on the ground, but they forced some turnovers and took advantage of some mistakes to secure a victory over a team missing their starting quarterback.

Here are a few takeaways from the team’s win:

Kicking issues still plague Los Angeles

Through the first five weeks of the season, Karty missed three field goals and two extra points, with a few of them being blocked. However, on Sunday, Karty put a field goal off the upright for a miss and just barely snuck another kick through. These issues can’t happen against good teams, or they’ll lose, as we saw against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5.

Defensive front lacks discipline

While Jared Verse and Byron Young combined for three sacks on the day, the Rams were drawn offside on three hard counts. That’s embarrassing and is just a sign of a lack of discipline. A better team would’ve made them pay.

Puka Nacua is so important

Nacua was helped off the field with a leg injury in the second quarter, and while he returned later in the game, he clearly wasn’t himself. He finished the day with just two receptions for 28 yards. Without him, it was clear that things were just not the same for Los Angeles’ offense.

Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams’ connection

Through the first five games of the season, it’s been apparent that things are just a bit off between Stafford and Adams, but the quarterback continues to try and feed the six-time Pro Bowler. That continued on Sunday, as Adams caught just four of his nine targets for 39 yards. They missed on two passes early in the end zone that set up Karty for the missed field goal. Maybe it’s because the two didn’t practice together much in the offseason, but the connection needs some extra work.

Nate Landman is incredible

Los Angeles signed Landman to a one-year, $1.1 million deal this offseason, and he’s been an absolute steal. On Sunday, he finished with 17 tackles, setting a franchise record and forcing his second fumble of the season. Where would this defense be without his contributions?
