Deion Sanders is all for Colorado fans and students rushing the field after an upset win.
He just didn’t realize the literal cost that comes with the celebration.

The Buffaloes coach learned of the $50,000 fine that the Big 12 hits schools with after fans storm the field in real time on Saturday afternoon shortly after they beat No. 22 Iowa State, 24-17. That upset win prompted fans to rush out onto Folsom Field in Boulder, and will lead to an eventual fine from the league.

“I love it. I love it,” Sanders said of the celebration. “As long as we control our — we don’t want to do nothing stupid … I love it. I want to see the kids rush the field, I absolutely love it.”
Reporters then asked him about the fine, which he had no clue about.
“How is it $50,000 for rushing the field?” Sanders asked. “Who made that a rule?”
But pretty quickly, Sanders came up with a solution that would end up saving his bosses some money. It just may not get much fan support.
“Come on, man. That ain’t right,” Sanders said. “These kids, well, we had 50,000 [fans] there, right? Chip in!”

At least Colorado isn’t in the SEC, which hits schools with much steeper fines. That conference implements fines of $500,000 every time a crowd enters the field or court before the visiting team can get to the locker room. That policy is up from just $100,000 on a first offense from last season.
Colorado edged out the narrow win over the Cyclones on Saturday afternoon while shutting Iowa State down in the fourth quarter. The Buffaloes intercepted Iowa State and came up with a huge fourth-down stop late to pick up the win, which moved them to 3-4 on the season. Kaidon Salter threw for 255 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Joseph Williams had 128 yards and a score on eight catches.
Abu Sama III had 177 yards and two scores on 24 carries for Iowa State. Quarterback Rocco Becht went 18-of-33 for 205 yards with his interception. The Cyclones, who have now lost back-to-back games, will take on No. 18 BYU next on Oct. 25.
