After losing a third straight game, and second striaght as a three-touchdown favorite, Penn State has officially lost all respect from the voters of the US LBM Coaches Poll. Penn State, a week after falling out of the AP Top 25, has officially been taken out of the top 25 in this week’s coaches poll, which was updated on Sunday afternoon.
Penn State started the season ranked as the No. 3 team in the US LBM Coaches Poll and inched its way up to No. 2 after the first week of the season played out. But losses to Oregon, UCLA, and now Northwestern saw the Nittany Lions plummet in the rankings, and deservingly so. Penn State fell 16 spots down to No. 22 after the loss to UCLA. Now, Penn State did not receive a single vote in the entire poll.
Ohio State remains the No. 1 team in the US LBM Coaches Poll this week with 63 first-place votes. The Buckeyes are followed by the new No. 2 team, Miami. The Hurricanes were idle this week but benefited from No. 9 Oregon falling seven spots after losing to Indiana. The Hoosiers moved up from No. 7 up to No. 3 in this week’s coache spoll after the road win at Oregon.
The only other Big Ten teams appearing in this week’s coaches poll are No. 21 USC (who moved up 12 psos in the overall rankings) and No. 25 Illinois, who fell 8 spots after losing at home to Ohio State. Michigan also fell out of the coaches poll along with Penn State.
