Colorado football finally pulled off the ranked upset, taking down the No. 21 Iowa State Cyclones 24-21 Saturday evening at Folsom Field.
After missing the opportunity to knock off BYU and TCU, Deion Sanders’ squad did not miss the moment against the Cyclones, putting together its most complete performance of the season. The Buffs got the best version of Kaidon Salter, with the senior quarterback throwing for 255 yards and two touchdowns while adding 57 rushing yards on the ground.
CU’s defense gave up a ton of yards (441 yards), but held Iowa State to just 2 for 12 on third downs and got a crucial interception from safety Tawfiq Byard that prevented a Cyclone scoring drive.
Buff Nation was rightfully ecstatic with the program’s first conference win and the ranked upset. Here are the best reactions from Colorado’s best win so far this season.
RGIII knows what is up
Colorado is a MUCH better team than their record. They finally put it together and showed that off against #22 Iowa State.

This call definitely changed the whole game, but we will take it
Just so bad lol
Finally got a break their way. Iowa State fans absolutely have a real gripe. Play changed the game. Blatant PI. https://t.co/RnPjxReLKi

It was a great win indeed
What an insanely good win for The Buffs!!
Conversely, this is an atrocity for Matt Campbell and Iowa State

Kaidon Salter showed out and sealed the win
Salter hitting that throw to win the game was special. It’s been pretty rough, but he deserves credit for a really huge play.

Coach Prime was an inspiration
Surgery for blood Clots and back and practice the next day. Then comes out and beats the #22 team in the country. Shout out Prime man. Season not over

A win to be proud of, that is for sure
Proud of Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. They dropped back-to-back games. Prime had health issues to address. But today, they showed their resilience after taking down No. 22 Iowa State! 👏🏾

Is Colorado back into bowl contention?
Colorado’s record isn’t indicative of the quality of this team
Losses to Georgia tech, Houston, BYU + TCU
Those are 4 top 25ish teams (Houston fringe top 25h)
Colorado was in all of these games and just beat a good Iowa State team. Tough schedule but definitely a bowl team

Colorado’s locker room was hyped

You can’t tell me our Buffs didn’t just get a monkey off their backs! 🦬
